Accommodations

Camping

Heartwood Gathering offers the option to camp on-site with access to the main buildings for washrooms and showers. There is also a centrally located outhouse. We will provide an area for washing your own dishes if you are preparing your own food. We are in a natural area, so we recommend keeping your food in your car at night to protect it from wildlife. All participants are responsible for their own camping equipment.

Tenting spots vary from open field to the cool shade of the forest. Most spots are within a 5 minute walk from the parking area. There are trails throughout the forest. Please do not camp on them. Some folks have opted to camp near their car, on the edge of the parking area. This is fine as long as it does not interfere with traffic flow or parking. Please be advised that the Ganaraska Forest Centre is open to the public. The forest is home to other activities going on at the same time such as tree top trekking, horseback riders and even ATV riders who all use the trails throughout the park.  Please bring ear plugs to block out extra noise if you are sensitive to noise.

If you have a trailer that you would like to bring please let us know so we can accommodate. You will still have to purchase camping and note that there are no hook-ups.

Indoor Accommodations

There are a limited number of indoor accommodations available in dorm rooms. There are four single bunks to a room with shared washrooms. Shared and private washrooms are located adjacent to dorm areas as well as private shower stalls. During registration, there is the option to request a bottom bunk and state your roommate preferences. You are responsible for bringing all your own bedding. Dorms can be noisy. We do our best to inform everyone of quiet hours between 11:00pm and 7:00am but footsteps and doors can still echo. Please bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.  The whole building including the dorm rooms are designed to stay cool and opening the windows during the heat of the day will result in a longer cooling down period in the evening. In the past people have brought little fans from home to keep the room cool.

Due to limited availability, we are reserving indoor beds for those staying both Friday and Saturday night. If you would like to only stay one night, please email (info@heartwoodgathering.ca) to be placed on a waiting list and notified within a few days of the gathering is space is available.
